When you work with organizations, you learn the wording and language that excite and inspire people. I love evolving solutions, and I surround myself with people who speak the language of problem-solving. Charity is in my blood. I wake up everyday, motivated to make a difference in lives around the world. Here are two words that give substance and meaning to my mission, and my journey:
Give - I have always extolled the virtues of giving. The joy you get, the connection you will have with the world from giving without reservation. It is a great feeling. Some will give with the expectation of receiving. No matter what arena you're in, that's not the way it should be done. "The Giving Experience" should not have a hidden agenda. If this is about improving lives and building a better future, your actions should reflect that.
Community - Doing things individually has its place. We all have individual talents and skills that we bring to the table. But truly making an impact - a lasting impact at that - calls for us to do things together, as a community. The world is always impressed with projects that use the full scope of our genius, and connect us, powerfully and authentically, through compassion. I am happy that we see more charities partnering with each other on clean water, education, sustainability, and a host of other issues. Indeed, the WE has more staying power than the ME.
