Social media has been a tremendous game-changer for a number of non-profit organizations. The explosion of platforms - Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and GooglePlus - make it easier than ever before to connect with supporters and potential donors. There are many things the philanthropic community can do to benefit. Here are two of my tips:
(1) Engage - This is a necessity. It should not always be about raising money. First, you have to develop a presence, and the best way to do that is to start engaging some the people who follow you. You'll build a strong foundation, which is important in these uncertain times.
(2) Study Other Nonprofits - Some organizations post on various platforms more than others, and, use some fundraising strategies that won't work well for everyone. It is up to you to determine what will both enhance and compliment your charitable vision.
